Business in times of Corona

These days are melancholic. We go by our daily routine wondering what might happen tomorrow. Each day, many more people turn out to be infected by Coronavirus COVID-19.
"How may I help?" ask this as a businessman to yourself. Here are the possible things that you can do:

Customer's needs

Identify the needs of your existing customers as well as potential customers. In the times like these, the value of products and services changes drastically.

Growth in Value Decline in Value
Products Sanitizer, Face-Mask & Tissue Papers Stationary items
Laptops and other electronic items Party & Wedding related items
Prayer supplies related to religions Travelling bags, trollies and other products
Medicines Outdoor games
Home care products
Self care products
Indoor games and toys
Services Online Shopping Departmental Stores
Online Subscription to magazines Public Transportation - bus, railway, airlines etc.
Virtual teams Many charges and taxes levied
Health, Hygiene & Medical Facilities Educational Institutions closed
Data Recharge Packs Political parties are not the focus
Internet Banking Law, Arts, IT etc. have less value.
Online food ordering apps like Zomato, Swiggy etc.

Educate Employees

Find out information about the epidemic from reliable sources and inform your employees so that they do not panic and work haphazardly.

Work From Home

As there should be no physical contact between people, this strategy will work best in avoiding contamination of the employees.

Reconsider leave policies for the sick

If a person is slightly sick, or has little symptoms, he/she might still be willing to work in the office because of the policies which do not provide any mercy to the sick. This may result in spreading of the virus to other people and nobody wants that. So reconsider the leave policies instead of forcefully quarantining the ill.

Virtual Collaborative tools

You can still discuss ideas and targets achieved with your teams using many online platforms listed here. This will definitely help you assure that you are on the same page as your teammates.

Free masks and sanitizers

You can hand out such freebies as a concerned business person. It's a great idea to do something for the society.

Clean is better

Sanitize your Office at regular intervals. The risky areas should be cleaned everyday such as doorknobs and doorhandles, washroom sinks, flush buttons, thumb print biometric machines etc. Avoid gathering of people in areas where there is a possibility of crowd formation.

Conclusion

Try your business to be operated virtually as much as possible, at least until the danger is over.

What I learned from Brian Chesky at Airbnb

There was a time when Airbnb focused on increasing its business and its only worries were to improve the prices and to utilize the data generated by reviews and feedback on its website to get the best out of it to attract potential customers. This is my seventh time talking to you from my house. Each time we’ve talked, I’ve shared good news and bad news, but today I have to share some very sad news.  When you’ve asked me about layoffs, I’ve said that nothing is off the table. Today, I must confirm that we are reducing the size of the Airbnb workforce. For a company like us whose mission is centered around belonging, this is incredibly ...
